| The Collaborative Teaching Department is designed to provide services to students identified as eligible for special education in the mild to moderate categories and who exhibit challenging behavior. The collaborative teaching role has expanded from only serving BD/ED students. Any student with behavior/emotional challenges may be found eligible for Collaborative Services. | |||||

| The Collaborative Teachers will assist the case study team in observing and will help design and demonstrate a data collection procedure that can be implemented by the classroom teacher. Once data has been collected, the Collaborative Teachers will assist in the selection of target behaviors and appropriate remedial interventions. If the student is eligible for special education, these interventions and perhaps others will become a part of the IEP and behavioral management plan for that student. The Collaborative teacher will involve the classroom teacher in the ongoing evaluation process, provide resource information, demonstrate how a procedure is implemented, supply step-by-step written directions for specific procedures or activities as needed, and schedule conferences to provide follow-up with the teacher as well as the child regarding progress. This allows the Collaborative Teacher to address unanticipated questions or difficulties which may arise when attempts are made to incorporate special procedures into the classroom situation. | |||||
