TLC

The Treatment and Learning Centers (TLC) serve K-12 grade students who are eligible for special education and related services and have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Self-contained classrooms are located at Humboldt, Kansas, and Effingham (Freshstart).  There are also two TLC classrooms located within the Effingham school district.  

Based upon each child's individualized education program (IEP) a variety of approaches are utilized to provide the student with the opportunity to benefit from his or her education. TLC utilizes several approaches in order to help students achieve their goals. These include positive behavior management strategies such as a tri-level point system with rewards for appropriate behavior, providing a structured and routine environment, individual and group counseling, social work services, implementing therapeutic crisis intervention strategies and systems of support, and individualized academics. 

TLC's goal is to teach students functional behavioral skills which will assist the student to return to the regular class setting as soon as possible.
