Transition Readiness and Career Connections

On TRACC is a transition program for students ages 18–22 who have earned the credits required for graduation but need additional support to achieve their post-secondary goals. Students must have an IEP and meet minimum behavior and independence requirements to participate. The program is available to students from all 28 school districts served by EIASE and is located in the Mattoon School District's LIFT building.

On TRACC offers three instructional pathways based on each student's individual post-secondary goals: enrolling in one or two courses at Lake Land College, participating in LIFT classes, or obtaining competitive community employment with support through the PECT program. Each student's schedule is individualized to provide the experiences and instruction needed to prepare for life after high school.

When students are not attending college classes, participating in LIFT courses, or working in the community, they receive classroom instruction focused on functional academics and independent living skills. Instruction includes areas such as using public transportation, shopping, budgeting, meal planning, self-advocacy, and other essential daily living skills.

The program is designed to be completed within one to two years. The ultimate goal of On TRACC is for every student to transition successfully into competitive employment, post-secondary education, or both, while developing the skills needed for greater independence and long-term success.
